Missing Visually Impaired Students Found After Three Months

Two visually impaired students who went missing from the Special Secondary School for the Blind in Opefia, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, have been found alive in Enugu.

The teenagers — Augustine Onwunyiruba, 17, and Lawrence Onyenaturuchukwu, 16 — were located in the Abakpa Nike area after surviving on the streets for three months by begging for alms.

The Ebonyi State Police Command confirmed their recovery on Friday, following a tip-off from one of the parents. Police spokesperson Joshua Ukandu said the boys have been reunited with their families and will return for further questioning.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in Ebonyi said the students fled their school after alleged threats from senior colleagues. Its state coordinator, Christopher Okorie, confirmed that the boys were in stable condition and thanked members of the public for their role in tracing them.
