Sports University Opens 2025/2026 Admissions in Delta

The Sports University of Nigeria (SUN), Idumuje-Ugboko, Delta State, has commenced admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The development was disclosed by Senator Ned Nwoko through his official X handle, where he described the institution as the first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The University is designed to merge academic learning with compulsory sports participation.

Nwoko explained that the model ensures students do not have to choose between education and sports. “At SUN, you can do both, and excel in both,” he said.

SUN offers programmes in Sports Science & Technology, Sports Administration, and Physical & Health Sciences, alongside core fields such as Nursing, Public Health, Physiotherapy, and Medical Laboratory Science.

Courses are also available in Journalism, Film & Multimedia, Broadcasting, Public Relations, Theatre Arts, Economics, Political Science, Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Microbiology, and Biochemistry.

The University further provides certificate and diploma programmes in Sports Coaching, Sports Governance, Sports Marketing, and Sports Medicine. A preparatory programme is available for candidates with strong sporting talents who may not meet conventional academic requirements.

According to Nwoko, admission requirements for degree programmes include five SSCE credits, including English and Mathematics, with a valid JAMB UTME score. Direct entry applicants may apply with qualifications such as A-level, OND, IJMB, or JUPEB.

He added that the institution’s campus features modern hostels, classrooms, WiFi, CCTV surveillance, and world-class sporting facilities. Applications are currently open through the University’s website.
