YABATECH Researchers Win Over ₦62 Million TETFund Grants

Dr Emodi Anthony Izuchukwu and Dr Akin Olaleru of YABATECH received Tetfund grants


Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) has strengthened its position as a leader in technological research, with two staff members securing over ₦62.9 million in TETFund National Research Fund (NRF) grants.


Dr Emodi Anthony Izuchukwu of the School of Art, Design, and Printing received ₦24.1 million for his project, “Transforming Marine Pollution into Art: A Strategic Approach to Enhancing Nigeria’s Blue Economy.”


The initiative, involving a multidisciplinary team, seeks to repurpose marine waste into art while promoting environmental sustainability and economic growth in Nigeria’s maritime sector.
Dr Akin Olaleru from the School of Engineering secured ₦38.8 million for research on “Fabrication and Optimisation of Hybrid Perovskite Semiconductors for High-Efficiency Photovoltaic Devices.”


The project aims to advance renewable energy and solar power technologies, supporting Nigeria’s clean energy goals.
