The American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, has matriculated 300 students for the 2025 academic session, charging them to become agents of positive change.
Speaking at the event, AUN President Dr. DeWayne Frazier stated that the university was Africa’s first development institution, established to train leaders who would address Nigeria’s social and economic challenges. He noted that while 300 students had been formally inducted, the number was expected to increase after registration.
Frazier urged the new students to embrace AUN’s culture of service learning, which links classroom knowledge to solving real community problems. He also encouraged them to value the school’s diversity, as it hosts learners from over 16 countries and nearly all Nigerian states.
“This is not just a university, it is a family of cultures and ideas. We expect you to become agents of change who will transform Nigeria and the world,” he said.
The matriculation marked AUN’s 20th convocation since its founding in 2003.
