Bauchi SUBEB Orders Sack of Absentee Teachers

The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (BASUBEB) has directed all 20 local government chairmen in the state to dismiss teachers who abandon their duties.

Speaking at the launch of the 2025/2026 school enrolment campaign in Kirfi LGA, BASUBEB Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed, said the move would serve as a warning and push teachers to take their jobs more seriously. He added that committed and punctual teachers would be rewarded to encourage dedication.

Mohammed expressed concern over the low enrolment of children in schools across the state, describing it as a significant threat to the future of young people. He particularly stressed the importance of girl-child education, urging parents to send their daughters to school.

He also tasked local government chairmen with monitoring schools in their areas, noting that SUBEB cannot cover everywhere at once. The state’s education commissioner, Dr Mohammed Lawal, said traditional rulers will be involved in mobilising parents for enrolment.
