Dr. Segun Osifeso, a veteran educationist and Nigeria’s first Air Survey Navigator, has called on the Federal Government to formally recognise Kenechukwu Morayo Uba, a student of Caleb International College, Lagos, who emerged as the world’s best candidate in the 2024 Cambridge IGCSE English Language Examination.
Kenechukwu secured the highest global score in English Language (as a second language, speaking endorsement), a performance certified by the Cambridge International Examination Council and confirmed by the British Council under its Recognition and Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards.
Speaking to journalists in Lagos on Friday, Osifeso described the feat as a landmark achievement that proved Nigeria’s potential on the global education stage. “Kenechukwu is not only a rare gem but a beacon of excellence and inspiration to Nigerian youth,” he said.
He urged the Federal Government to recognise the student with a national honour. Further, he appealed to the Minister of Education to facilitate an audience with President Bola Tinubu, where she would be officially acknowledged and decorated with a presidential award of excellence.
