Stakeholders from education, civil society, and the private sector have shown strong support for a new bill to create a Federal Vocational and Training Centre in Mallam Madori, Jigawa State. The support came during a public hearing at the National Assembly, organised by the House Committee on Alternative Education.
The bill, sponsored by Hon. Abubakar Makki Yalleman, aims to help young Nigerians gain hands-on vocational skills, boost job creation, and reduce unemployment. Yalleman, who represents Mallam Madori/Kaugama Federal Constituency, stated that the centre will focus on skills essential for national growth and the labour market. He explained that the training centre will also support entrepreneurship, helping young people start businesses and contribute to the economy.
