The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has said it withheld the discharge certificate of Lagos-based corps member Ushie “Raye” Uguamaye because her service year was extended by two months for disciplinary reasons.
In a post on X, NYSC explained that Raye failed to attend her scheduled biometrics clearance in April 2025, which is a violation of the scheme’s bye-laws. The agency dismissed claims that the action was linked to her alleged criticism of the government, calling such reports false. NYSC revealed that Raye is one of 131 corps members whose discharge certificates are currently being withheld for valid disciplinary reasons. The organisation maintained that its decision follows due process and urged corps members to comply with all service regulations to avoid extensions or penalties.
